At the heart of the GK104 lies its optical switch technology. Unlike traditional mechanical switches, optical switches use light-based actuation, resulting in faster response times, reduced debounce delay, and significantly longer lifespan. The switches are also hot-swappable, compatible with both 3-pin and 5-pin configurations, allowing users to customize their typing experience without the need for soldering.
The keyboard sports a standard 104-key layout but introduces an innovative programmable split spacebar. This feature gives users the freedom to assign individual functions to each half or revert to a traditional spacebar layout, depending on their preference. Dual rotary knobs are also integrated into the design, allowing for intuitive control over media, volume, lighting, and macros. Users can expand knob usage by adding up to six knobs in total, depending on their setup.
